Cycling Holidays in Byron Bay 101:
Here are some hot tips on helping you choose the right adventure and also what to expect out on the road…

When should I arrive in Byron Bay?
Riders will need to arrive in Byron Bay at least the day or afternoon before their first day of riding. Lifecycles Travel staff will meet you the day/evening before the start of the tour and provide you with your bike and equipment. They will explain the details of the tour with you and answer any questions you may have.

What is the difference between Self Guided and Bike Packing?
A Self Guided tour is one that you navigate the route independently but there is a Lifecycles Travel support staff member carrying your equipment and luggage from one accommodation to the next. On a Bike Packing tour, you are expected to carry your own equipment on your bikes carry bag and you are completely self-sufficient on the tour.

What equipment is provided on a Self Guided or Bike Packing Holiday?
Your bike will be a Trek Checkpoint SL6 Disc, fitted with 35mm Schwalbe gravel tyres ready for all road surfaces and conditions, as well as Bontrager frame-mounted luggage bags to carry the clothing and equipment you’ll need.

So you don’t get lost, you’ll be provided with a comprehensive itinerary and Wahoo Elemnt GPS route navigation system, which will guide you along your multi-day adventure and to your next pre-booked accommodation stop.

A trusty spares kit and first aid kit will also be strapped to your bike.

To lead the way and keep you safe at the rear, Bontrager lights will be fitted to your bike. You’ll also have a small USB charger to keep the GPS computer and lights fully charged throughout your trip.

Who is available if there’s an emergency?
A Lifecycles Travel staff member will be available 24/7 for emergencies.

Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, you can start by paying a deposit and we will be in touch to arrange a payment schedule for you.

Can riders join Cycling Tours in Byron Bay prior to leaving for my Self Guided or Bike Packing adventure?
Lifecycles Travel run daily guided cycling tours with our without lunch. Our cycling holiday riders are more than welcome to join these rides in the days leading up to their tour or in the days following their return to Byron Bay.

Do I have to be an avid cyclist to go on a cycling tour?
No, the tour can be achieved at a slower pace and is suitable to all cycling abilities. All cyclists should, however, know how to change gears and be familiar with a road bike, understand and follow Australian road rules and be confident riding a bike while sharing the road with other vehicles and motorists.

What is the difference between a Private Room and a Twin-Share?
A Private Room is a room housing 1 person individually. A Twin-Share is a room housing two people at times sharing a bed. Beds sizes at our accommodations are doubles, queens and kings. Some rooms are twin-share (two singles), if you are planning on travelling with a friend and/or you wish to have some extra space (not share common areas or beds) we suggest to book a private room.
